NEW DELHI (GaeaTimes.com)- The Center has been asked to put online all the recommendations it had made by the Tandon Committee regarding its move to de-recognize a huge number of deemed universities in India. The order has come from the Supreme Court of India. The Center has also been asked to put on the internet all the recommendations that it has been given by the task force regarding the same matter. The order came through on Monday, after the apex court did not allow the de-recognition of the deemed universities by the Center.

The move taken by the Supreme Court comes after to agreed to the claims of those deemed universities which had been threatened to be stripped off their status. These universities, 44 in number, had claimed that the only body which has the right to strip the status off them is the University Grant Commission. The Supreme Court hence agreed that it would be looking into the validity of the claims put forward by the government in support of its decision to strip the deemed universities of their status.

The government had claimed earlier that it has decided to take the tag of the deemed university off 44 universities throughout India on the grounds that they did not manage to met up to the standards that are required of a university, as stated in the statutory rules. However, the Supreme Court maintained that before any of these universities are stripped off their deemed university position, it is necessary to first ascertain that they meet up to the standards of academic excellence, rather than deciding on the grounds of infrastructural backwardness.

1.Why only deemed universities ???. The Honorale court must also look into other univs condition be it the Bhagwant, the Singhanias, the Jaypees or the BITS!!!
2. How come BITS Pilani si allowed to open up in Goa, Hyderabad etc when ICFAI was not ???
3. Do IITs like the Jodhpur has infrastructure for the Prestigous studenst ??
4. yes the fiefdom must go but then whether the respected members paid any visit to the Deans or the Principals or the VCs. They went to the place where money was there viz the Managment
5. If the AICTE Memebers can be raided then why not the UGC Memebers.
6. Whom Is Dr Sibbal castigating ? His own colleague Mr Arjun Singh !!!
7. Then Mr sibbal comes up with no reservation in the Univs established by the Foreign Countries !!!Will it not be costlier than what the deemed univs are offernig.
8. The IITs have no topper and BITS a deemed Univ has toppers from the 23 states.
9. What contributuions have been made by the IITs in the prgress of the nation except that they became the bought inteelectuals of the MNCs.
10. Last but not the least why have Centrsl, State, Demeed, International and such fancy names to confuse the Indians and the poor parents.
Yes i wgree that the fiefdom must go and it should not be allowed to pervade the atmosphere. But then the UGC Memebers should also be held accountable.
How about having deemed univs professors inspecting the IITs / Univs etc. They will not aks for money but will point out the wastage in the national research fund
