KOZHIKODE, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The IIMs are going for a change in their admission and operation procedure as it seems from the move taken by IIM Kozhikode. As per the latest news, the admission criteria for the aspirants seeking admission to this prestigious institution have been revised. As per the new rule, the dependence on the score of CAT has been considerably reduced. The chairperson of the institution, Anandakuttan Unnithan, said that from now onwards only 50% weightage would be given to the CAT score for judging the applicants. Earlier it was 90%. The marks obtained in the 12th and 10th grade will be given 20% weightage and work experience would fetch 10%.
Similar to the move taken by the IIM Kozhikode, a number of other IIMs in India have also adopted new policies. The IIM Ahmadabad for instance has set the minimum required marks for higher secondary and secondary exams at 70%. Apart from the new policies taken by IIM Kozhikode, the other IIMS in the country are also taking measures to make things easier for the economically backward and meritorious applicants. The scholarship range and amount has been widened recently. This has become necessary as all the IIMs have resorted to a tuition fee hike in recent times.
The new admission policy of IIM Kozhikode will help to streamline the admission procedure, as education experts feel. As the scholarship limit has been set high in the IIMs, the students would not have to depend too much on education loans. Only IIM Indore has not set any specific cut-off marks for board exams so far.
