KODUNGALLUR - A Rs.40 million spa academy is all set to open in Kerala’s cultural capital Kodungallur in Trissur district to train students as spa specialists.

The SpaEd academy, the second such institute in Kerala, will open Saturday and provide a new career option to students. It is owned by Spaveda, a spa management company which opened its first spa in Kollam.

The spa school is a part of a four-acre health centre coming up in four phases in Kodungallur.

“The spa academy will open Saturday. The school will train 15 students as spa specialists in six months,” Shine Ahmed, a director of Spaveda, told IANS.

The spa specialist course has been designed to offer traditional ayurveda and western therapies to create a complete wellness programme.

In the second phase, a state-of-the-art gymnasium and yoga study centre will come up. Jogging tracks and other facilities will come up by 2014.
