ALIGARH - More than 500 junior doctors at the Aligarh Muslim University have gone on strike demanding a probe into the alleged irregularities in the entrance examination held Jan 24 for the MD, MS, PG diploma and MDS courses.
A delegation of the striking doctors met central Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad Thursday, according to Kalim, president of the Resident Doctors Association.
Arshad Anjum, a spokesperson for the junior doctors, said: “Mass copying, release of answer keys on the Internet, same series question papers, compact sitting arrangement, missing answer sheets and permission to use mobile phones were some of the gross irregularities conducted, which make the examination a farce.
“We met the VC (vice chancellor) who constituted a three member committee to inquire into the allegations but the committee members did not meet or talk to us. The controller of examinations Prof Pervez also did not care to satisfy us.”
The agitating students have assembled outside the medical college and the hospital has been shut.
The entrance test was for 160-odd seats for which 295 students took the test, according to university officials.
