KOLKATA - West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan Wednesday said some action needs to be taken to end the growing incidents of campus violence in the state.

“I had a discussion with Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in this regard this Tuesday. Both of us have agreed that violence has to be end or it has to be reduced to the extent possible,” Narayanan said on the sidelines of a seminar here organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce.

Earlier, the governor expressed grief at the recent clash between rival students unions in which one person was killed and at least 10 others were injured. He appealed to the students to abjure violence and keep education as their foremost priority.
