ISLAMABAD - A visit to Pakistan has helped clear several misconceptions about Pakistanis, an Indian girl student said after a visit to Lahore.

Samash said after spending time with Pakistani students that she had come to like them a lot.

The trip has cleared many misconceptions regarding Pakistanis and she now realized that much of what she read about Pakistan was propaganda.

Samash is a member of an Indian delegation visiting Pakistan under the Indo-Pakistan Peace Project for Education.

This is a network between the Sanjan Nagar Public Education Trust of Pakistan and the Millennium School in Amritsar.

Shankar Musafir, programme manager of India’s Millennium School, said students on both sides of the border should be provided more opportunities for regular interaction.

He said such interactions would help build stronger bonds between people of the two countries.

Gurupdesh Singh, a Class 8 student from India, said he had made friends in Pakistan. He said he loved to be here.

According to The News International, Indian teacher Seema Gupta said the students had been very keen to visit Pakistan and to meet their Pakistani friends.

She stressed it was only through progressive communication and understanding each other at a human level that one could shun the negative propaganda and strengthen India-Pakistan relationship.

Indian and Pakistani students made different posters on the topic of friendship and peace.
